Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Tiffany did a good job of reporting the Nintendo Wii news (http://ichigo-chan.blogspot.com/) So I won't recover it here . . . Instead I bring you the NEW SMAH!

Words are just wasted here, look at the pretty pictures. . .

Samus Out of her suit and a playable character.

Mario Narfeling like a Garthug.

New Character Snake (from Metal Gear Solid I think)?

Anyway, I'm still not giving it justice, go here and watch the Preview . . .

Woah! When Samus' armor fell off she looked rather naked... and blue... also Mario in a cooking pot! Spicy Meatballs!

Ahh! Snake in a box!

I'm not crazy about how different people are done in different animation styles. Some of them don't match very well, although I suppose it would be better than making Mario and Wario, and gawd forbid Pikachu or Kirby, more realistic looking.

Also! Giant Puppy of DOOM!

Speaking of giant pupies of doom, I wonder if that nintendog is a playable character? That would be creepy! Also I think a realistic pikachu would be deeply disturbing, I think the different animation styles gives the game a "Roger Rabbit" feel to it, as if these characters are coming from their universes and not all living in the same one.

True true and considering it's usually a giant glove that is picking them up and throwing them together that makes sense.
The puppy is probably like the pokeballs or something like a board obstacle or something.
I'm rather indifferent towards 3rd party characters in it, like Snake. Well I'm indifferent about Snake himself. I'd be excited about people like Sonic or Megaman. If they stuck Sonic the Hedgehog in there it would be cool because of all the Mario vs Sonic fights that would ensue. As long as there are more Nintendo characters in the game rather than others it'll be fine by me.

In the interests of fairness, I should point out that Solid Snake first appeared on the NES before he became a Sony whore.

Now you know, and knowing is some undetermined fraction of the battle.

The latest rumor is (and remember: Still a RUMOR) that Smash Wii will have downloadable characters. If that's true and they keep all the same characters from the last smash plus the new ones, then theres going to be like 50 playable characters ... That sooooo Crazy, like Spookdy! So if we're on the topic of "characters we would like to see" . . .
1) Luigi with Vaccuum
2) Princess Daisy
3) Earthworm Jim
4) Lara Croft (just for the jiggly)
5) Tetris pieces (as weapons)
6) Baby Mario & Luigi
7) Paper boy (Newspaper of Doom!)

Wii is still a stupid name, but the game demos look sweet so far. Kane and I especially like the looks of Red Steel, and I've already told him I'd learn to play Super Smash Bros. Brawl if he wanted. Once Snake broke cover, it kinda clinched the deal for him, I think.

Thanks for the mention, Donovan. I'm personally going to play as Pit from Kid Icarus. Now his bow can change into two swords! Btw, for those who don't know, Kojima of Konami begged for Snake to be in SSBMelee, but it was too late in development. So they added him here. I love how in the trailer he hides in an item box.

And with a 3rd party character joining, the possibility of a Mario VS. Sonic brawl rises.

Also, you have the option of playing this with the Wiimote and nunchuk, or with the GCN controller. I'm personally trying out the Wiimote first.

Btw, I might get a job at my local GameStop. Wish me luck!

i've never seen a topic on the blog here get people talking so very much. I,m excited about wario and the nintendog is so cute and distracting, like real puppies, or donovans.

Okay, I still say Wii is possibly the dumbest name in the HISTORY of Nintendo, but calling the controller a 'Wiimote' salvages a few points for creativity. Which I had figured to be impossible. Hats off to whatever poor intern came up with that stroke of brilliance and subsequently got no credit for it.

@ Dave: Actually, oddly enough, the fans came up with it through forums and such around the time of E3.
